Our bedtime Jekyll and Hyde boy chose Jekyll tonight. He was so sweet. During prayers he said "And God Bless my very pretty mommy." Awww!!! I said "Well I like that prayer." So he cuddled up and said "Do you like it when I say thank you?" "Do you like it when I give hugs?" "Do you like it when I share?" "Do you like it when I play 'I Spy' with you?" "Do you like it when I put my dish in the dishwasher?" To which I responded "YES!" to each and every question. He summed our conversation up with "Then you like a lot of things I do!"
hmm...
My turn. So I asked "Do you like it when I give you hugs?" (YES!) "Do you like it when I read you books?" (YES!) "Do you like it when I plant flowers with your?" (YES) "Do you like it when I tell you you have stinky breath?" To which he responded "NO! I wonder why you don't brush my teeth."
And there we have our Hyde!

The Wrong Side of the Bed
Jack is going on 3.5 years old. I do not need a calendar to tell me this. His moods speak loud enough. Case in point, this morning...
1. Jack woke in our bed. He screamed "MOMMY YOU ARE NAKED! I DON'T LIKE IT! WHERE ARE YOUR PANTS!" They were on my bottoms as always. My waist was exposed as my shirt rode up and he was touching my skin. Clearly freaked him out.
2. As we stumble into bathroom to brush teeth he catches a glimpse of himself in mirror. He screamed, "THIS IS NOT MY HAIR! WHERE IS MY HAIR?" He proceed to frantically pat his bedhead hair down flat. He was overwhelmed with emotion that he went boneless hitting his chin on the sink. He continued, "I WANT MY HAIR. THIS ISN'T MY HAIR!"
3. A little water had the hair down in place. Of course the water cause another scene as Jack was not quite convinced that his hair would eventually dry. Then we enter the kitchen. I hand him is milk. He screams, "THE MILK IS GOING DOWN! THIS ISN'T RIGHT! FIX IT MOM! OH NO! THE MILK IS GOING DOWN! I CAN'T DRINK IT!" He then collapsed on the floor into the fetal position. I just stared at him and the milk thinking 'what the hell is he talking about?' Minni if you read this you must comment on how I don't exaggerate as you bore witness to this last week!
4. On way to school he suddenly screams, "MOM...GO...BACK...NOW...NO!!!!! You ARE PASSING IT!!! GO...BACK...TO...THE...CAR...WASH...NOW!!!...ONE...TWO...THREE...YOU ARE IN TROUBLE!" The car wash was the drive through at the local pharmacy. The one, two, three magic was the second time he has tried to discipline me. The first was bedtime just the other night.
I am not sure to laugh at him or declare this torture. All I know is this pregnant mom needs a bit of sympathy as she can't turn to wine and prenatal vitamins don't work as well. Kidding, of course!

Jack's T-Ball Story
At bedtime Jack made up the following good night story.
Once upon a time Jack wished for the t-ball bases to be in his back yard. Coach Vinny picked up home plate and ran it all the way to Jack's backyard. Then Jack ran and ran to a base. It was first base. Coach Vinny said "good job Jack!" and put the base in Jack's backyard. Suddenly, Jack ran to the middle of the field. This is called second base. Coach Vinny said "Good job Jack!" and put second base in Jack's backyard. Suddenly, Jack ran and ran to another base. This was called third base. Coach Vinny put it in Jack's backyard. Suddenly, Jack ran to home plate. It was already in Jack's backyard. That was so funny! Then Coach Vinny picked up all the pieces of the church's playground and put them in Jack's backyard. They were all connected to Devin's playground. YEA!!! The End.

Peanuts and Pretzels and Cracker Jacks...
Take me out to the T-Ball Game!
Jack's first game was this past Saturday. If you have never been to a preschool T-ball game you must go--just pretend to know a kid to make it less spooky! Between the kicking of dirt, the entire field running to chase one single ball, the first baseman oblivious to the responsibilities of his position, and the runner impersonating Forest Gump--unaware that the bases actually serve a purpose. Put this all together and it will be the most endearing 30 minutes of your life. Well, of your Saturday morning at least.
Check out the family album (link at bottom of blog) for the pics and vid.

More Jackisms
I have been neglectful to Jack's blog. Travel is the excuse. I spent last two weeks on West Coast. First San Francisco, next Los Angeles, and finally Vancouver. I return home and find it snowing today. Flurries only, but could someone but the snuff on the white stuff?
I have lots of good Jack material I will post this week. We had our first T-ball game and he has become a master Marble Runner. But today I shall treat you to a few Jackisms uttered this weekend.
1. "Mom, what does stubborn mean?" I defined. Jack said, "Mom and Jack are both stubborn." hmph.
2. After planting some daffodils and hyacinths Gary commented that they were pretty but a bit crowded. I pondered over this while staring out at my garden. Jack touched my shoulder and said "I don't think they are crowded. I think they are pretty." Could I adore him any more! Than he asked for a doughnut. hmm...honest or manipulative???
3. While going to bed Jack announced that there was a cloud of poison under his bed and if he gets out at night it will get him. Gary and I have NO IDEA where this thought came from as we would never plant a scary idea like that in Jack's mind. However I did struggle with debunking his theory or letting him test it...just to see if it would finally keep this boy in bed all night long. I finally did the right thing. Don't worry.
4. Jack was pulling petals of a Camilla flower. I taught him the old "she loves me she loves me not." He quickly adapted this to the more appropriate "I will get a new toy. I will not get a new toy."
5. After breaking a few rules including flushing a toy down the toilet Jack is unable to get the new wheelbarrow he wanted for a few weeks until he proves he can play with his toys properly. The next morning his first sentence went like this, "Ah...I didn't break any toys all night long. Now I can have my new wheelbarrow?" Yea, right kid! HA!

Jack's First T-Ball Practice
Jack has joined a 3-5 year olds' T-Ball team. He's youngest on the team at 3 1/3--most on the team are around 4 or a little older. Dad took him to his first practice this week, and here's video. He's the only child that kept his batting helmet on for the entire practice, but see why that makes sense at mark 6.5 seconds and 51 seconds. Note the kids camped out on third base.

Puns for Fun?
Today while leaving for school...
J: "Mom where is your momet?"
Mom: ?????
J: "I wear a JACKet and your wear a MOMet."
Who wants to claim responsibility for the gene causing our three-year old to make puns...POP POP? GRANDPA? BUELLER?

I Am Reading
Jack loves this fun internet site called Reading Eggs. Here he is reading one of their books after learning "at" words. He read it once on his own and then we taped it...my favorite part is how much he gets a kick out of the poor ants despair at the end. HA!
Jack the Builder
Forget about Bob the Builder, Jack is on his own building jag. I thought this pretty creative. For those of you scratching your head...this is a street cleaner. Can you see it? Wheels on bottom of box. The seat was meticulously designed...the smaller block is the seat cushion, the taller block is the back of the seat, and the blue/yellow cylinder is the driver behind his steering wheel. The blocks in the back are the vacuum with another person operating the equipment. His final touch is the water tank with the "hose". You see it now, right? HA! This is made out of his beading kit. We bought it so he could place blocks on a string to develop his fine motor skills. His OT recommended it when he was in physical therapy. He never took to "beading", so we were happy to see the toy is finally put to good use. (HAHAHA!)

Jackisms
Jack distressed at bedtime: "Mommy! I have no fingerprints I only have prune prints!"
Then he figured out this is funny and declared, "Jack is the funniest, second is Daddy, third is Mommy."
