Happy Easter Bronwyn!

He Has Risen!

And I'm not talking about early bird Jack (though he rose at 5am this morning!)  I love Easter.  Resurrection is not only the most important literal Religious event but also symbolically it just fills you with enormous hope.

And the Easter Bunny is pretty darn cute...even if he does poop jellybeans.

Bronwyn had a school Easter Egg hunt this past Thursday.  One word to describe her...scrappy.  I've never seen her run so fast and demonstrate such agility as she did to swoop up as many eggs as she could.  I was also proud of her sharing powers...as after she snatched up all the eggs she made sure to share them with her classmates.

Next up is dyeing Easter Eggs.  I love how our each person's personality is reflected in their eggs.

Kids had a blast and did their eggs all on their own!

Bronwyn's masterpiece.  She was so proud of herself for mixing yellow and blue to make green--and figuring it out by herself!  I love that it appeared she was just slapping on paint but her end product turned out gorgeous!

Notice three are missing.  Dropped eggs :(  and the best...is Mom and Dad were the one's who dropped them...not the kids. 

Now we move to Easter morning.  Kids woke and ran to find their baskets!

Bronwyn found her basket first.  Hidden under the couch cushions!  She was so excited to get the Tinker Bell flutterfly (thought she wanted the pink one...good grief!)

Jack found his next.  Hidden in the Dining Room.  He was happy the Easter Bunny read his mind that he wanted Lego's more than candy!  He got both!
 

Easter Bunny left some tracks outside.  When we went to check it out we found he left a few eggs for us to hunt, as well!

Someone's break lasted a little longer ;)

Amongst the Eggs were 12 large eggs all numbered.  We came inside and opened these up in order.  Turns out they were filled with items that helped Mom and Dad tell the kids the story of The Passion.  We began with Jesus coming into Jeruselum on the Donkey and ended with the empy egg to show how Jesus has risen.  The kids were on the edge of their seat (or carpet thread is more like it) but Jack half-way through was overwhelemed a bit with how sad the story is... :(

Now off to church to celebrate the true meaning of the Holiday.  Should be fun considering the Easter Baskets and eggs have already been eaten ;)

Roar

Kids first Broadway-on-tour show...The Lion King Musical.  We kept it a secret providing minimal hints.  Jack guessed it this morning...as soon as I made comment about Bronwyn's mane :)

You know you are a parent of small kids at a theater when you make three bathroom stops before the show to pre-empt the inevitable "I have to go potty" during act one; as well as identify all nearby exits ;).  Kids were very well behaved the entire time, Miss Bronwyn managed to stay seated for three hours and yet she never stopped moving. Squirmy kid but well behaved :)  Really proud of my little lady and little man!  Jack managed to fall asleep at the very end...around the same time in the story he conked out when watching the movie.  Oh well...Akuna matata!

• Jack's favorite part was the Stampede of Wildebeests.
• Bronwyn's favorite part was when Pumba and Timon were stargazing.
• My favorite part was the opening number with the animal parade and Dad liked the grasslands sequence.

Jack even learned something.  So he says.  On way home he comments, "I always thought vultures were at the top of the food chain..."  Oh my.  

The show obviously made an impression as when we came home Jack made this costume...

 

 

He also commented that the song Akuna Matata from Lion King means the same as the song Bare Necessities from Jungle Book--thus wondering if animals are biologically lazy ;)

Spring Break Part One

Back in Time
A visit to the natural history museum was decidely BORING for our boy but THRILLING for our girl.  Who'd have thunk it?  Bronwyn has been begging to return ever since while Jack is questioning his father's judgment for buying the seasonal pass.

Tip Toeing through the Tulips

 

Jack's Horizon class was charged with growing a Tulip Garden and Jack was responsible for documenting.  They bloomed over Spring Break and Jack was there to capture the "evidence."

 

Walk Like an Egyptian

 

On the way home Friday Jack told us he just wants to scream out loud in the middle of class "TEACH ME ABOUT ANCIENT EGYPT!"  A bit odd, but the kid does love ancient history.  So Monday I decided we'd do something fun around the topic...We made name plates using Egyptian hyergliphics.  See I can google family activities just like the rest of them :)

 

Okay this has nothing to do with history.  We went to  catch air in the morning and Bronwyn won a balloon.  Here she is as the Easter Bunny!!!
